SUPPORTING THE OCTAGON

The Octagon Center for the Arts depends greatly on support from people like you. The Octagon is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization with approximately 55% of the operating revenue coming from Octagon programming. About 15% comes from state and city grants, 5% from the Octagon Endowment, and the remaining 25% is gained by donations, memberships, grants, and sponsorships from our community.

Donations for current operations continue to be extremely important, and contributions to the Octagon Endowment ensure the future of the organization. Donors to the Octagon Endow Iowa Fund, which is part of the Octagon Endowment and administered through the Community Foundation of Greater Story County, may qualify for a 20% tax credit on their Iowa income tax.

The annual Octagon benefit auction is an important fund-raising activity for the Octagon, providing about 10% of the annual budget. In addition to donating artwork or other auction items, Octagon supporters are invited to attend and enjoy an entertaining evening while supporting the arts. The 2008 event will be held on May 3. Mark your calendar now. It's a night to celebrate the arts!
