Give Your Time

Volunteers

Volunteers make it possible for us to get the job done every single day. Budgets have to stretch far, so volunteers are a true gift. Each year, over 500 folks give generously of their time and talents here at the Octagon. They do everything from help direct traffic at the art festival and help set up for events to repair the building and vacuum the galleries. Volunteers might fix a computer, update a database, or assist with class prep.  Join the team!

All volunteers who dedicate 20 hours a year are eligible for a volunteer membership!

Interns

Want some great hands-on experience to supplement your formal education? The Octagon may be just the spot for you. We are always on the lookout for excellent candidates in public relations/marketing, graphic design, art education, exhibits/archives, and events management. We have a variety of opportunities throughout the year, including projects with the Octagon Art Festival, art camps and classes, outreach, fundraising events, and daily operations. Although these are unpaid positions, we can work with you to obtain college credit.

Send a cover letter and resume to info@octagonarts.org to inquire about an internship.

Docents

Note: Our docent program is currently on hold.

We’d like our visitors to get as much as possible from our exhibits, so we are developing a docent program! Docents are volunteers who have received special training about each exhibit. They can give tours or serve as gallery attendants to give visitors a deeper experience of the artwork on display. If you are passionate about art; if you like to learn and to share your knowledge with others; if you have time to give, we’d like to hear from you!
